تو نے جب آخری خط میرا جلایا ہو گا

tu nay jub aakhri khut mera jalaya ho ga

while you had burned my last letter

تو نے جب پھول کتابوں سے نکالے ہوں گے

tu nay jub phool kitaabon say nikaalay hon gay

and while you had taken the flowers out of the books

دینے والا بھی تجھے یاد تو آیا ہو گا

denay wala bhi tujhay yad to aaya ho ga

the giver (of the flowers) would've come to your mind too

تیری آنکھوں کے دریا کا اترنا بھی ضروری تھا

teri aankhon k dar'ya ka uter'na bhi zaroori tha

it was necessary for your eyes to flow

محبت بھی ضروری تھی

mohabat bhi zaroori thi

love was necessary

بچھڑنا بھی ضروری تھا
